Moscow artist Daria Abdullina works with new contexts and spaces of our time. After graduating from the HSE Art and Design School (Animation and Illustration) and the Institute of Contemporary Art, the artist chose a completely non-classical visual language for herself. Naive and lively VKontakte graffiti and a comic strip about the superstar Stella have created a whole world of characters with whom the author explores the boundaries of his own capabilities and allegorically illustrates the surrounding reality.
"In my art I create a multi-dimensional fictional reality in which places, objects and characters are symbols and embodiments of emotional states or feelings. It is an inner world that has taken the form of an outer world. I explore feelings and emotional states such as falling in love, love, loneliness, abandonment, longing, helplessness, waiting. I am interested in the interaction between psychological reality and the external world. In particular, the ability to speak of the personal and the reflection of psycho-emotional states in space and objects. In my magical reality real, significant for me places often arise - the apartment where I live, the city of Anapa, the winter sea. Also I find myself in the image of this or that character inside the imaginary world. The fiction is layered on reality and my figure as an artist finds herself on the border of the invented and the existing, intimate and open, internal and external. I use different media to create a myth: painting, comics, animation, installation, performance. Narrative threads, recurring subjects, characters and symbols connect the various forms of work."
