Salvador Dali was born in Figueres. He studied at the art school, then at the Academy of Figueiras. He continued his education at the San Fernando Academy. While studying in Madrid, Dali became interested in Freud's works, met Lorca and Bunuel, and experimented with new directions in painting.
By 1929, he began working with Surrealists and became popular.
The artist's works are traditionally in high demand. Thus, the work "Portrait of Paul Eluard" (1929) in 2011 was sold for 20,600,000 dollars.
