Sid Vicious
Ilya Minin’s printmaking practice developed independently, without direct influence from any particular school or tradition. Drawing on references and parallels from the archive of Leningrad visual art, his work showcases a punk-inspired hand-printing technique known as collagraphy. A defining feature of collagraphy is the ability to create prints from virtually any found or improvised materials.
Over many years, the artist has constructed his own personal pantheon of heroes — often rebels and charming troublemakers — who continue to inspire him. On the same honorary board, Gagarin appears next to Kurt Cobain, and Pelé stands alongside John Coltrane.
The *Heroes* graphic series was exhibited at the Museum of Nonconformist Art in 2023 and became the subject of a dedicated zine within the AMINAZINE publishing project by the New Urban Artists collective.
