From the series "Clean Objects"
Vitaly Chistyakov’s artistic path began in a rehabilitation center on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, where he first discovered oil pastels. The expressive graphic style to which he now devotes all his time has become the artist’s signature. Chistyakov focuses on simple objects, whose forms he endlessly distills into abstract, indeterminate silhouettes. The images he creates through multilayered shading are what he calls “Pure Objects.”
Vitaly’s solo exhibitions have been held at the Navicula Artis gallery in St. Petersburg and at Ruarts in Moscow. His works have also been shown at the Sergey Kuryokhin Center for Contemporary Art, the Museum of Nonconformist Art, the Sol Gallery, the Russian State Library for Young Adults, and the State Hermitage Museum. Vitaly Chistyakov is a member of the New Urban Artists and Parazit collectives.
