Three cups
Konstantin Laptev is a self-taught artist from St. Petersburg. In 2023, he took part in the AMINAZINE-2 publishing project at the New Urban Artists’ workshop, resulting in a series of collagraphic prints and a personal artist’s zine. Each print made in this technique is unique and nearly impossible to reproduce.
The unifying theme of the series is the tea ceremony. Tea-drinking has become not only a leitmotif of Laptev’s life, but also of his artistic practice. Cups, glasses — broken or intact — and teapots, sometimes with two spouts, resemble illustrations to the mad tea party from *Alice in Wonderland*. Thanks to Konstantin Laptev, we find ourselves seated at the table with the March Hare and the Mad Hatter, where there are no answers to any questions and time has either stopped or fallen apart.
