Igor Sapunkov
Fortunately, Igor Sapunkov, for the first twenty-five years of his work, did not have such specialists around him. He just did what he wanted, whatever captured his heart and his hands were able to do. He still works the same way now. He uses watercolor, ink, gouache, oil, pencils, and a mixed set of techniques. He has even developed some of his own techniques.
After the first exhibitions his works became recognizable. Over the past years, even after becoming successful and famous, the master has never been untrue to himself. Just as during the previous quarter of the century, he has worked hard and thoughtfully and searched only for his own way. Although, it is obvious to any art lover that, for this artist, finding his own way has always been based on a deep knowledge of the history of world art.
