About the artist
Creativity and exhibitions

Krista Mölder (b.1972) is an artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. She is a graduate of the Estonian Academy of the Arts Photography MA programme (2006), and holds a Photography Studies MA from University of Westminster, London (2004). Mölder gives lectures in photography at the Academy of Arts in Tallinn since 2003.

The artist quotes her interest in the relationship between person and space as an important part of her work. Her melancholic photo series often highlight a distinctive absence of a subject, while presupposing an active viewer position. Mölder’s exhibitions are increasingly site-specific, taking her interest in spatial context beyond the photographs themselves.

Mölder’s recent exhibitions include: "Getting Lost", Kanzan Gallery, Tokyo (2017); “Between the Archive and Architecture” (with Neeme Külm and Taavi Talve), curated by Kati Ilves, KUMU Art Museum, Tallinn (2016–2017); “Köler Prize 2016. Exhibition of Nominees”, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Estonia, Tallinn (2016); "YOU/BLUE" (with Helena Tulve), Hobusepea gallery, Tallinn (2015); “Non-spaces”, Temnikova & Kasela gallery, Tallinn (2013); “Being Present” (with Neeme Külm), Tallinn Art Hall gallery (2012); her work was shown as part of “Silence” group show at Gallery Masters & Pelavin, New York (2012) and "European Eyes on Japan. Japan Today" (vol.13), curated by Mikiko Kikuta, in Turku, Finland; Tallinn, Estonia; and Akita, Japan (2011–2012).
