Yuri Samoylov
Yuri Samoilov (1987) - Russian graphic artist and painter.
He first began to study the fine arts at the age of 20, then, after studying at Moscow School of New Cinema as a screenwriter and director, he returned to painting and drawing.
Yura's works are a methodological peering into the nature of painting, in this he continues the line of abstract painters of America and German neo-expressionists of the 1960-70s. Through them, Samoilov also addresses the question of the method, which for him consists in the problem of the ratio of figurative and abstraction, to the border of which the artist approaches with the help of automatic writing and palimpsest of textures - Yuri applies and erases layers of paint, overlaps one another, scrapes the drawing with a sharp turn of the brush and uses the can on a par with tube acrylic and pastels.
