A moment in time II
Waqas Khan is a contemporary Pakistani painter. He was born in 1982 in Akhtarabad, Pakistan. He graduated from National College of Arts, Lahore (Pakistan) in 2008 with a BA degree in Fine Arts. One of the key influences on Khan were Mongol miniatures and engravings that he researched while studying in NCA. He paints tiny dots, creating complex geometric patterns such as spirals, waves and circles. The desire to unite separate particles in a single organism was born out of another passion of Khan’s —a Sufi way of life that calls upon people to connect with each other and be one with the world. Khan does not manipulate his images digitally: each and every painting is created through long hours of meticulous manual work. He currently lives and works in Lahore.
Waqas Khan's work is included into prestigious public collections such as The British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London; the Deutsche Bank Collection, Frankfurt; the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the Devi Foundation, both in New Delhi.
