Viva la violence
Mayana Nasubullova works with sculptural objects and installations. Using gypsum, silicone and resin she fixes trends of modernity, exploring mechanisms of individual and collective memory. The material, according to the artist, can change the meaning of the work, so often the same model is cast in different variations. Everything can become an object: busts of Lenin, Matryoshka, chumbley and other artifacts of Soviet culture turn into universal post-Soviet totems.
Her projects were represented in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Tomsk and Paris. She took part in about 100 group exhibitions, such as the Triennale of Russian Contemporary Art, the exhibition NEMOSKVA (MORE THAN MOSCOW), the Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale, the Zheleznogorsk Biennale, the 5th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art and others. The works are in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art Garage, the Museum Center of Krasnoyarsk, the foundation Iris, as well as in private Russian and foreign collections.
