Rob Woodcox is an art and fashion photographer, born in Houston, USA, raised in Detroit, now lives and works between Mexico City, Los Angeles and New York.
Rob began photographing at an early age, attending a photography school in Detroit.
Rob Woodcox’s conceptual and surreal photographs are dedicated to the struggle for human rights, he stands for every voice to be heard. Rob Woodcox creates projects that raise issues of human identity, free attitude to the body, racial equality and environmental issues.
The author works with dancers to create striking images and compositions with the help of photography, using human bodies frozen in motion as an ideal geometry. Woodcox masterfully uses a sense of symmetry, frozen and at the same time continuing movement, and the play of light in creating his photos. He is inspired by the works of such authors as Tim Walker, Eugenio Recuenco, Rene Magritte, Leonora Carrington, Annie Leibovitz, Salvador Dali and Richard Avedon.
In his photographs, Woodcox creates surreal compositions of human figures, organically fitting them into the surrounding landscapes. Each of his works is an attempt to rethink the harmonious coexistence of humanity with the environment and nature. Rob Woodcox is inspired by the cultures of different countries, finds beauty in geometric architecture and natural landscapes.
Rob Woodcox’s works have been exhibited in galleries in the United States, England, France, Austria, Serbia and published in major publications – Vogue, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Huffington Post, Playboy, Vice, Daily Mail. The young photographer has already collaborated with a number of international companies, such as Universal Pictures, Capitol Records, Flickr, Sotheby’s Museum Network and others.
In 2020, the first photographic book with Woodcox’s works «Bodies Of Light» was published, which covers more than 10 years of the author’s work.
