Vasily Kudryavtsev was born in 1972 in Priozersk (Karaganda region, Kazakhstan) in a military family. A few months after the birth, the family moved to Moscow.
He graduated from three courses of the Moscow Aviation Institute. Since 1991, he has been professionally engaged in photography. Vasily has been cooperating with the Russian gloss since the early 90s and is a trendsetter of magazine photography of that time. Kudryavtsev's portfolio is a kaleidoscope of candid observations of human contradictions. His pictures have been published in Rolling Stone, OM, Premier, GQ, L'Officiel, Elle, Vogue, Grazia, Big City, Cool and Musical Life. Vasily specializes in photographs of music and contemporary culture stars — he has shot the iconic Prodigy and Nirvana, Metallica and Public Enemy, Kiss and Depeche Mode. At various times, Kudryavtsev's lens included Marilyn Manson, Bjork, James Cameron, Moby, David Bowie, Meryl Streep, Tatu, Decl, Vincent Kasel, Daniel Craig, Fanny Ardan, Lady Gaga, Dolphin, Denis Simachev, Tina Kandelaki, Sergey Mazaev, Alla Borisovna Pugacheva and many others. In 2018, he acted as a special photographer of the Artmossphere Biennale and personal photographer of the legendary Shepard Fairey, better known worldwide as Obey.
