Elena Nikitina is a multidisciplinary artist working in various genres: painting, graphics, installation, photography, video, objects. She often uses collage in her work adding the most unexpected materials to classic techniques, such as wire, lime, charcoal from the fire, and film.
The focus of Elena Nikitina's attention is on philosophical questions of understanding the world, the structure of the universe and the structure of human society. The artist's interests range from astronomy and quantum physics to the limits of human and animal life. Working on projects takes many years of research and reflection on a chosen topic, so often the works and exhibitions are accompanied by texts by the author.
The artist spends a lot of time in nature, working in his studio in a village near Vladivostok, that is why pictorial and graphic works reflect the specifics of Far Eastern nature. Based on the Primorsky school of painting, Elena Nikitina develops it into abstract images, trying to depart from conventional notions of beauty and deliberately coming to expressive simplicity of forms and lines.
