Jean-Marie Perrier was born in Paris in 1940 Thanks to his father, he met with the photographer of the magazine Marie Claire, Daniel Filipakki, who hired him to work as an assistant. In 1962, Perrier received an offer from Filipacca to work in the popular youth magazine Salut Les Copains, on the pages of which all the most prominent musical idols of those years appeared — The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Johnny Holliday, Jacques Dutron, Sylvie Vartan, Françoise Hardy and many others.
Jean-Marie Perrier has worked for the most famous magazines and brands and created an impressive portrait gallery of 20th-century celebrities. After a break from his photography practice in the 1990s, he returned to France and, at the invitation of ELLE magazine, shot a series of portraits «The World of Fashion Designers». It includes portraits of many famous fashion designers — Yves Saint Laurent, Jean-Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli and others. Throughout Perrier’s long professional career, his archive was also replenished with portraits of world cinema stars — Catherine Deneuve, Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Benicio Del Toro, Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci, Natalie Portman.
