Semyon Faibisovich was born in 1949 in Moscow. Graduated from the Moscow Institute of Architecture (1972).
Impressions from walks along Moscow streets: ridiculous stops with ordinary passers-by, balloons of the past wedding caught on the car bumper, homeless people and beggars immersed in alcoholic meditation.... Just like in life. And completely different. Consciously or not, Faibisovich debunked the idea of the authenticity and truth of the realistic image, the one that had been so championed earlier by the Itinerant artists and then by the academicians of the Soviet country. When the typical in the depiction of "typical characters in typical circumstances" (Engels's formula for realism) is fixed first by photographing it on a cell phone, then by translating this very honest, unambitious image into a monumental painting, the image born from such a distillation of the typical cannot stand and splits into pixels, appearing to us as a phantom puzzle-pattern.
