From amorphous matter without balance, Kimi Nii creates pure form, making cuts and highlighting subtle features, as a result of a precise and intuitive movement between reason and sensitivity.
Kimi Nii was born in Hiroshima and immigrated with her parents to Brazil at the age of nine.
In her early days with ceramics, she designed and created by hand the concepts she learned in school: clean design and pure form combined with necessity. Sculptures of geometric, rational forms that she tried to impose in complex technique and the process of high-temperature ceramics.
“Little by little I learned the lesson of humility: to unite my will with the properties of fire, water, air and earth and take advantage of it.”
In the process of preparing her work, she reveals her life experiences based on her strength and the power of emanation expressed in subtle forms.
Kimi Nii has been recognized as an artist for her technique and talent in her work: her works are included in the permanent collection of the Pinacoteca Museum in São Paulo, and exhibitions have taken place throughout the world: North and South America, Europe, Asia.
