Vitaly Chistyakov’s artistic path began in a rehabilitation center on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, where he first discovered oil pastels.
The expressive graphic style to which he now devotes all his time has become the artist’s signature. Chistyakov focuses on simple objects, whose forms he endlessly distills into abstract, indeterminate silhouettes. The images he creates through multilayered shading are what he calls “Pure Objects.”
