PiranesiLAB is a laboratory and gallery for experimental printmaking, founded in 2016 by Alexey Veselovsky at the FABRIKA Center for Creative Industries — the oldest creative cluster in Moscow. The mission of PiranesiLAB is to build a platform that expands the understanding of the possibilities and diversity of print art.
The laboratory’s activities focus on collaborative artistic processes with key figures of the contemporary art scene (Olga Chernysheva, Vladimir Dubossarsky, Kirill Chelushkin, Leonid Tishkov, Alexander Yulikov), as well as on supporting emerging artists through a special grant provided by PiranesiLAB and FABRIKA. PiranesiLAB produces print-based works, offering artists expert and technical support at every stage of production.
The lab integrates exhibitions into its own space, bridging the behind-the-scenes of printmaking processes with their artistic outcomes — including both limited editions and unique works. PiranesiLAB also engages in collaborative projects with galleries and cultural institutions (pop/off/art, AZ/ART, a-s-t-r-a gallery, 3L Gallery, Solodovnya Center of Visual Culture), showcasing the richness of the print medium and the distinctiveness of each artist’s approach to it.
Since 2024, PiranesiLAB has been a member of the Gallery Association, contributing to the development and establishment of principles and conventions for the representation of print and edition-based art on the market.
