Yes to new worlds
It seems that the creation of virtual worlds is at the core of our culture. The construction of reality out of the most bizarre details and meanings is something that we weave together as a common fabric. Fairy tales, myths, images of a bright future, even all the conspiracy theories and all sorts of escalations, runaways and Russian cyberpunk. It says that virtuality is our favorite habitat. Something we know as much about as birds know about the sky.
Nadezhda Bey is a young media artist who uses VR as her main medium. Born in Tyumen, then at the age of 18, she moved to St. Petersburg, where she received her higher education in design and CG at ITMO University, and then a master's degree in science&tech art at the same university.
Since 2019, she has been actively involved in developing VR technologies and the popularization of virtual reality art, she is one of the most famous figures in Russia in this direction. In 2022-2023, she became a prominent representative of the digital art scene in Russia, received the ASTA award and the S. Kuryokhin Art Prize. Nadezhda currently works as an artist at the Interactive VR Lab and as a tutor at the Art&Science program at ITMO University.
