Mikhail Roginsky is a key artist of the second half of the 20th century, the main life writer of the Soviet era among nonconformists. In his work, the artist chose two concepts of art opposed to each other: the world of things silently testifying to the presence of man, and the universe of a large city facing man. His work occupies an important position between the art of the "Thaw" and the art of "Perestroika". The artist's constant heroes for decades have been simple things: walls, doors, tiles, kettles and primuses. Mikhail Roginsky was one of the first in the circle of nonconformist artists to discover the world of Soviet life as a subject of artistic research and comprehension. Some researchers classify Roginsky as a pop artist, he called himself a documentarian.
