From the project "I have known since yesterday"
Olga and Oleg Tatarintsev are a Moscow-based middle-generation artist duo known for their multimedia projects, including painting, graphics, objects, video and audio works. Olga and Oleg Tatarintsev work both in a duet and as independent authors: paintings are exclusively Olga's authorship. Their works are distinguished by clarity of form, pure color and impeccable technical performance. The authors' interest in material and form inherits the traditions of the first wave of the Russian avant-garde in a synthesis with minimalism. In the 2010s, discussions on the topic of socio-political realities appear in the projects of artists. A significant place in the work of Olga and Oleg Tatarintsev is occupied by the theme of censorship and oppression of the author's thought. An example is the project “Beyond Limits” (2018), in which excerpts from texts and letters of figures of Russian culture of the XIX-XX centuries, driven into the framework of physical or creative lack of freedom, were combined with a discussion about the case of the “Seventh Studio” and the arrest of Kirill Serebrennikov.
