Katya Alagic was born in 1991, in Bern, to a Russian-Bosnian family and grew up in Moscow. Photography came into her life when she was 15 and became a way to capture the intimacy of a moment slipping away in her routine.
In 2014, Katya Alagich graduated from the MARCHI and received a Master's degree in Architecture. During her studies, disciplines such as art history, spatial design, light work, painting and sculpture left an important mark on the formation of her visual language. Katina's work is voluminous and filled with vibrant colors, subtle transitions of semitones and complex geometry. The ornaments, graphics and a certain decorativeness in her photographs border on a watercolor softness that envelops.
Katina's point of beauty is focused on sensory perception, at the junction of reportage and fine art photography. The main themes that manifest themselves in her work are the study of inner freedom and memory. Her works immerse themselves in themselves, sometimes creating tension, then evoking nostalgia for something long gone and forgotten. Through stories brought to the surface as if unsaid, she seeks to create a special state to which a person is invited. At the same time, it is important for her to leave free space between the viewer and the frame, giving her the opportunity to independently feel her feelings and personal experience, fix herself in this process.
