Transcoder Serenity
In the process of working on the “Transcoded Structures” series, Olga creates her own fantastic worlds on the computer with her own specific light and textures, and then transfers them to canvas using the classical technique of oil painting. The works in the series were presented at the 58th Venice Biennale at the exhibition "Transcoder. Before and after media in abstraction" (OSTEN Pavilion, North Macedonia).
“While working on this series, I noticed that when a pictorial image is “returned” to digital format, then any digital device reads its original birth in a three-dimensional program. And, although the technological process has been interrupted and passed through human consciousness, digital technology still gives it additional volume compared to what does not originate in digital construction.

Olga Tobreluts is a Russian artist, painter, one of the pioneers of media art in Russia in the 90s. She began her creative journey with searches mainly at the intersection of traditional and innovative media, for example, painting and video art or computer print. Inheriting neo-academicism with its cult of the human body and classical ideals of beauty, she combines computer graphics with quotations from art history.
