About the Artist

Tovarish and Soyuz, a collaborative project with Mundfish, the creators of Atomic Heart, are more than just characters – they are a playful exploration of Russian and Soviet culture, bringing a touch of nostalgia and whimsy to the world of art. Tovarish embodies the spirit of the USSR, blending recognizable icons and cultural references. His appearance echoes beloved characters like the Hare from "Well, Just You Wait!" and the White Rabbit from "Alice in Wonderland", while his clothing and accessories are packed with symbolism, from the "First" inscription on his boots representing Soviet leadership to the crystal hand, a nod to both vodka and a refusal of alcohol. Soyuz, the mechanical companion dog, is based on the Wolf from "Well, Just You Wait!", with his head resembling "Sputnik-1" and other details referencing the robots of "Atomic Heart." These two figures invite us to see the familiar in a new light, sparking curiosity and reminding us that even the most ordinary objects can hold a surprising depth of meaning.
