Meditation
Statics and dynamics, enclosed in the monolithic volume of a stylized seated figure, symbolize the departure from reality and at the same time the return to it through new facets of perception. Muscle tension and composure, calmness and balance express the acceptance of the world and confidence, the vitality of a person.
Ruslan Nigmatullin is a sculptor who works in such materials as stone, bronze, and wood. He does not dispute the influence of Asian and Georgian applied culture, African archaic sculpture, which inspired Picasso, Braque, and Matisse, the avant-garde artists. He gives his own, Western expressionist visualization to the Eastern theme: such a “Eurasian” approach is due to participation in Russian and international sculpture symposiums and joint projects that help strengthen national traditions and at the same time open up new perspectives, promote the interpenetration of cultures. Turkic national motifs are traditionally strong in Nigmatullin’s artistic language – the use of ethnic ornaments, traditional symbols, and characteristic plasticity – both in realistic and formal, “non-objective” execution. The master often turns to mythological themes in their modern context. In his later works, a rigid rhythm can be traced, they are laconic and distinguished by symbolism and greater conventionality. His sculptures are very "natural": in complex and soft forms, as if caressed by all the ancient elements - water, wind, sun.
