About the Work
About the Artist

A gentle and warlike image of the East with figures of horsemen in a multi-layered background. They are blurred and textured, coloristically similar to fresco paintings. Here is the synthesis of the outline of the silhouette and its ephemerality, so characteristic of the artist. With color he tries to convey the emotional state of the horsemen-travelers on their life-long journey.

Rasikh's creative method was formed back in Ufa in the 80s in the Genghis Khan art group, at the origins of which he stood with artists whose views on art were far from the specifics of routine socialist realism. Rasich's work is a fusion of life impressions: admiration for the art of the Italian Renaissance, the works of the masters of the Paris school and German expressionists, a passion for Russian icon painting and suprematists.

Rasikh Akhmetvaliev's painting is like a meadow in May, where women and horses walk freely and joyfully. The motive of "horsemen" and "horsemen by the sea" - and this is one of Akhmetvaliev's favorite symbols, personifying the merger of body and soul - serves the same idea of combining heavenly and earthly, weightless movement of air (spiritual) masses and erasing borders, striving for inner freedom and purity. Women are the source of great spiritual power, they give the world lightness, sensual freshness, warm light, maintain a connection between earthly and heavenly.

Akhmetvaliev perceives life poetically: he does not consider it shameful to create beautiful painting, to pay attention to color and mood. The artist is called "a Frenchman from Bashkiria" not only because he lived in Paris for eight years, but also because of the peculiarities of his attitude, perception of culture, tastes. In the work of the author, one can feel involvement in the values of the Paris School.
