About the Artist

The plants, as if in a dance, create a dynamic you wouldn't expect to see in a philosophical still life. Each brushstroke reflects an inner state, conveying anxiety, vanity, and, at the same time, the beauty of existence. The work evokes associations with Andy Warhol's "Mural," but with a unique approach to expressing emotion. Airat Teregulov manages to simultaneously unsettle the viewer with the terrifying plants and inspire hope. These images are concentrated in one place, as if bound together. Wild plants, surrounded by light, are unable to spread their poison beyond their boundaries.

A superb graphic artist, working in a vast array of techniques. His paintings borrow the jagged, broken, and intense lines of drypoint. The subjects in his works are mere images, behind which something more can be discerned—the fluidity of human emotions. The author's established and recognizable visual language possesses a distinctive "disharmonious harmony," an organic chaos that almost becomes abstract.
