Wall decor Russian North-Pacific Ocean
We live on a water planet. Most of the land on the opposite side of the planet corresponds to the ocean and only a few land areas coincide. Mongolia and Chile, China and Argentina, the ice cap in the North creates a solid land opposite to Antarctica.
The triptych suggests works that can be turned over. The composition is built on the rhythm of the duck monochrome stripes, and the colored inserts convey the ethnic, natural features of the country.
Artist of decorative and applied arts and art critic.
Ekaterina was born in Cherepovets in 1968. She graduated from the Moscow Art and Industrial School named after M. I. Kalinin, specializing in Artistic Weaving.
The theme of Ekaterina's works is the connection of times, the past and the future, roots, foundations and what will be created by each person. Rarely does anyone manage to go through all the stages in a straight line. Every time you have to change, build new relationships with the world and with yourself, you reach a dead end, return and try to draw conclusions. The movement occurs sometimes in a spiral (and it is not clear that you are moving in the opposite direction), sometimes with sharp turns.
Ekaterina works in the technique of tapestry weaving and tapestry. In her works, she combines the traditions of Western European tapestry with the motifs of northern Russian weaving. Her tapestries are distinguished by their picturesqueness and delicate color scheme. The author deliberately turns to the traditions of the Russian North: she uses flax, applies a variety of weaving techniques, including openwork weaving and imitation of shaft weaving.
