Polina Shilkinite
Polina Shilkinite (Murmansk, 1996) is a graduate of the Contemporary Art department at the Higher School of Economics in the workshop of Vladimir Dubosarsky. She works primarily with digital formats and painting. In her works, she reflects her subjective experience of space, social themes and problems of ecology and feminism. Her education allows her to combine academic skills and a pictorial simplicity in her work that accurately reflects the current context and its mutable visuality.
The originality of the artist's artistic handwriting is shaped by a passion for the tactile brushstroke, a glitzy vision of the digital age, the power of graphic tradition and bold, colourful solutions. Her work is guided by classics such as the graphic and female-gaze of Kiki Smith and Louise Bourgeois and the colour work of David Hockney.
