Lucy Solovieva (LU) was born in the historic city of Vladimir, and from early childhood was possessed by a love of fine arts. Despite the fact that LU considers herself to be a classical school of painting, her style was greatly influenced by the street culture of graffiti.
LU works in her workshop and admits that she needs complete privacy in order to be creative. Female images occupy a special place in the artist's world. With a minimal amount of artistic means, LU seeks to convey the depth of its characters: “The human is polar. I would like to convey exactly that the human is different, and at any moment we can experience a huge number of completely contradictory feelings. All this is reflected in the plastic, in the look...”. LU's characters are both fragile and audacious, and their faces are turned to the viewer with a kind of challenge. The sincerity and purity of the work sometimes borders on naivety, but an attractive understatement always remains in the images.
The restrained, but carefully verified and independently created coloring in the works of LU refers us to the work of Lucien Freud and Giorgio Morandi - these authors are the sources of inspiration for the artist.
The unique style of Lucy Solovieva has already been appreciated both in Russia and abroad: the artist's reputation includes numerous exhibition projects in Russian galleries of contemporary art, and a number of her works are in private collections in France and England.
