Vasil Khannanov is a multi-style artist. He works in many techniques, experimenting with the material. The realism of his sharp drawings is combined with Suprematist compositions, including assemblage, collage and appliqué, using folk motifs, fabrics and patterns of antique carpets. “I don’t write or draw, I make pictures,” he says, “it’s always a challenge.” Its themes are extensive - female beauty, harmony and wisdom of the universe in religions, from the Koran to the Bible, moments and eternity.
Vasil set the vectors of movement and consolidated young artistic forces; organized and curated many exhibitions and projects both in Ufa and throughout the country. Headed by Vasily, one of the first creative associations, “Genghis Khan,” became a participant in international art fairs, where our contemporary artists, some for the first time, saw the “light” and were appreciated abroad.
