
Artist, painter, author of objects and installations, one of the leading representatives of Moscow conceptualism.
Born in 1943 in the village of Trialeti, Georgian SSR, into the family of a sculptor.
Since 1990, he has been working in collaboration with his wife, Elena Elagina, together they have prepared more than 50 personal exhibitions, among them - exhibitions in the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) and the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Vienna). In 2009 he took part in the Main Project of the 53rd International Art Exhibition - Venice Biennale, in 2011 - participant of the exhibition “Empty Zones. Andrei Monastyrsky and Collective Actions ”at the Russian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale.
Laureate of the title "Honored Artist of the RSFSR" (1984) and the VII All-Russian competition in the field of contemporary visual art "Innovation" in the nomination "For creative contribution to the development of contemporary art" (2012).
