The online platform TEO by Cosmoscow presents a mono-project by Anna Birch as part of the TEO Section booth.
The booth brings together works by the artist from the series "Soot Is White," "Mists," and "Memories" as three parts of a study devoted to the relationship between personal experience and the given environment.
In the series "Soot Is White," this logic unfolds through urban images that carry the semantics of order, achievement, status, and social promise. In "Mists," the same principle is translated into a state of uncertainty: space loses its stable perspective, and the direction of movement, time of day, and season remain not fully discernible. In "Memories," this problematic acquires a material dimension: wood becomes a carrier of time, and the image embedded within it becomes an internal trace, in which the past is preserved not as an archive but as a still-operating structure. Across all three series, the key shift is from documentary recording to the reconstruction of the image as an averaged archival model.
