In an important series of works for her, “Paints to Go,” Violetta Grishina comprehends the work of an artist, concentrating her attention on painting materials. “Untitled” depicts an artistic clutter of tubes, paint cans and brushes on her desk. But the objects are barely outlined; in fact, you can see not the tools, but the traces they leave on the canvas: strokes of oil paint, strokes with felt-tip pens, acrylic sprays, lines and spots - the very elementary particles that make up any painting. The composition has become an abstract ghost of the real, a shallow, cast, whose outlines are melting before our eyes, or perhaps, on the contrary, have just begun to appear.
Violetta Grishina is a Samara artist, a graduate of the Sreda Obucheniya school of contemporary art.
In her works, she combines her love for classical painting with new research on the border between painting and collage, and reflects on the nature of the pictorial image, subjecting it to deconstruction.
