About the Artist

In October 2024, the State Tretyakov Gallery plans to open an exhibition of the artist Yuri Larin in its halls of art of the 20th and 21st centuries on Krymsky Val (if a positive decision is made by the fair’s Expert Council, it may well become part of the Parallel Program).

The works of Larin, whose paintings and graphics at the turn of the 20th – 21st centuries go back to the renewed Russian art of the Thaw 1960s, “throw a bridge” between Russian and European fine art: his works are stored in the collections of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Germany, in the Tretyakov Gallery itself and in the State The Russian Museum, as well as in the State Museum of Oriental Art and the Sidur Museum, in the museums of Saratov, Volgograd, Karaganda, Izhevsk; in private collections in Russia and abroad.

Interest in the work and fate of the master is steadily growing. In 2022, the publishing house “New Literary Review” will publish a book by Dmitry Smolev (for a long time one of the curators of the Kovcheg gallery, current journalist of The Art Newspaper Russia) “Yuri Larin. Limit States Painting". In 2021, an exhibition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Yuri Larin was held in the Moscow Kovcheg gallery.
