OASIS 3
In his work, Alexander Shabayev seeks to activate the “inner viewer” — to let go of control and become a conduit guided by intuition and receptive awareness. The creative process for him is a descent into a state where the mind quiets, giving way to feeling and subtle perception. This is not carelessness, but a mindful accompaniment of what is emerging — approached with focus, yet without overemphasis.
Metal becomes a living counterpart in this dialogue: it responds to touch, transforms, and communicates. Any inaccuracy or unexpected turn can lead to discovery, breaking through creative stagnation. This approach demands humility, observation, and acceptance of unpredictability.
Shabayev explores themes such as frozen time captured in a reflective metal surface, behind which stretches a metaphysical space of evolving forms; the symbolic headpiece suspended over a figure, embodying emotional intensity — a calm peak, a hidden storm of feeling, the shift from sorrow to hope, from turmoil to meditative stillness. He also draws on the purity of childhood perception — a direct, innocent gaze that transforms the everyday into an act of genuine creation.
