Fungo table lamp
Italian architect, designer, artist, one of the first women to graduate from the architectural faculty of the Milan Polytechnic Institute. She was born in Milan. In the 1940s, she studied art at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Her debut as a designer took place in Milan: the Small Lune Collection of accessories and small plastics attracted the attention of the Parisian house of Dior and led to a long collaboration with the fashion brand.
In the 1960s she moved to Rome. The historic 15th-century Palazzo Cenci, where Crespi settled, has become a center of attraction for Roman bohemians. Among her regular guests were Hubert de Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn. In the early 1970s, she demonstrated the famous Plurimi collection, which includes coffee tables with rotating surfaces in the form of petals. In 1973, she began working on the Rising Sun lamp collection. Later, Crespi added furniture to it: a Menhir bookcase, Ara and Lunante tables.
In 1986, Crespi went to India and lived for 20 years in the Himalayas, practicing daily meditation. She published the book "In Search of Infinity — The Himalayas" in 2007. After returning to Italy, she continued to work on her most famous subjects, experimenting with various materials.
Gabriella Crespi's works are in the collection of King of Saudi Arabia, Shah of Persia Reza Pahlavi, Princess Marina of Savoy, collector Gunther Sachs, Princess Grace Kelly, actress Audrey Hepburn, George Livanos, Thomas Hoving and others.
