Cosmogonic myths
A handmade copper canvas aged with rich patinas. 36 small copper squares join to form one large one, creating a vibrant visual dialogue. For all the abundance of colours and lines (sharp angles entering the circle, cold blue bordering on aged leather, smelling of spilled aged bourbon) - when viewed from a distance, it is perceived in an absolutely holistic way. In these cosmogonic myths, everything is capable of transforming into everything. The formation of spatial elements. The leading motive is that of overcoming chaos. The transformation of chaos into space, the separation of land from the primordial ocean, the separation of the earth from the sky, the emergence of men, animals, plants and everything else. The language of emotion and fantasy.
Alexey Osin and Simha Brankovic are a creative duo in which the architectural power of form and the poetic fluidity of the sign, matter and metaphor, structure and intuition meet. They are united by their desire to explore nature not only as a phenomenon but also as a language.
Alexey Osin (b. 1983) is a painter, decorator, architect and craftsman. His practice covers a wide range of directions: from art objects made of wood, metal and stone to decorative bas-reliefs, abstract painting, sculpture, author's furniture and light installations. Alexey works freely with natural materials, exploring their properties, creating new forms, textures and compositions. His education at the Russian Academy of Justice and architectural courses gave him a special sense of structure, volume and composition, which makes his works large-scale, but always ‘alive’ and filled with the breath of matter.
Simha Brankovic (b. 1988) is an artist who explores language through image. In her work painting (oil, watercolour in the author's technique, pastel), graphics, collage, work with wood and metal organically coexist. A member of the Union of Artists of Russia and a professional with more than ten years of experience in interior and object design, Simha decorates spaces, creates furniture and art objects. Her favourite motif is a series of fantastic fish, delicately rendered with watercolour, ink and tempera lines, transformed into pictorial calligraphic symbols. These are not just decorative images, but an encrypted visual code - a sign that can be understood by those who find the key to it. Her art is a dialogue with nature as a universal language in which every viewer is a potential decipherer.
Together Alexei and Simha create more than just a subject or a canvas. Their duet is an exploration of the boundaries between space and meaning, material and sensation, the chaos of nature and its artistic ordering.
