Sculptures in Movement Floor Lamp
The series "Sculptures in Movement" by Jordan van der Ven, also known as JORDAN ARTISAN, created exclusively for Space Four Gallery and consisting of a chair and a light sculpture, was produced in a limited edition of 7 plus 1 artist’s proof.
Jordan Artisan brings sculptural movement into space. Both pieces are inextricably linked and were created simultaneously in the atelier: cut, welded, and shaped by the hands of the artist. An ode to the raw poetry of building materials and uncompromising craftsmanship.
Flowing diagonal lines and forms—such as a seat, a backrest, and a surface catching raking light—unfold from a central axis. A complex construction of hand-welded rebar and mesh, transformed by meticulously applied layers of white cement. Two objects moving towards each other, intensely communicating in their design language: a monumental lounge chair and an abstract light sculpture.
Jordan van der Ven aka JORDAN ARTISAN lives and works in Nijmegen (Netherlands). Starting his education as a carpenter, Jordan graduated from Academie St’Joost, Breda as an autonomous Artist in 2005.
Working mainly with building materials. Normally the ones depict despair; to be hidden underneath the floor, within a wall or behind a tile. After experimenting he has found an innovative way of using them and giving them new aesthetics: "Let’s turn sharp into round, dark into light, metal into something more fluid.”
