The "Season of Navigation" series. Ekaterina Gerasimenko in her series captures the Volga during the shipping period, a dynamic body of water seen as if through a camera lens. Repeated views from the windows of ships, reflections of water, interiors and fragments of the path add up to a feeling of continuous movement and careful observation of the changing landscape.
In her artistic practice, Ekaterina Gerasimenko works with themes of memory, place and everyday life.
Through the subtle collage of the image, the artist fine-tunes the view of modernity, consisting of a chaotic and indirect superposition of different layers of information and time.
The artist's main method consists of second-order observations through photography. Ekaterina conducts her field research in search of an uncontrollable subtext, which will always be found in disturbing images that appear in the gap between reality and the memory of it.
