DS3 Armchair
DS3 armchair produced by Cassina after a design by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The model is among the architect’s most recognizable furniture designs and reflects his vision of furniture as an extension of architecture. Its geometric composition and distinctive lattice structure have made it an iconic example of European Art Nouveau and early modern design.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, painter and one of the creators of the new language of European Art Nouveau. Working at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and object design, Mackintosh strove to create a holistic artistic environment in which each object was part of a unified composition. Designing interiors as a unified artistic organism, Mackintosh created objects that became iconic design icons of the 20th century. His furniture continues to be produced by leading global manufacturers and is included in the collections of major museums worldwide.
