Yan Tihonenko (b. 1986, Elektrogorsk) is a Russian contemporary artist working at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and installation. A graduate of the Architecture Department of the State University of Land Management (2004–2011), he has been actively developing his artistic practice since 2017, exploring the interaction of natural materials and human perception.
He is known for his series of works, such as the Soil Series, Rust, and Reflection/Refraction, in which he uses materials including earth, resin, metal, and fabric to create objects that demand the viewer's physical and visual participation.
His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including the contemporary art fairs Cosmoscow, BLAZAR, and 1703 Art Fair. In 2021, he held a solo exhibition, Reflection/Refraction, at the ART&BRUT gallery in Moscow. In 2025, the TIKHO Gallery hosted a duet exhibition by Yan Tihonenko and Anastasia Malinovskaya, "re:pair."
In addition, the artist is a co-founder of the TIHO Gallery of Contemporary Art in Moscow, which serves as a space for creative experimentation and dialogue between artists and audiences.
Yan Tihonenko's works are held in private collections in Russia and Europe.
