Pair of Delta Wall Lamps
Pair of Delta wall lights designed by Sergio Mazza for Artemide, circa 1960. Created during the company’s formative years, the model is representative of post-war Italian lighting design. The lamps combine a nickel-plated brass structure with a spherical diffuser made of pressed and opaline glass, producing a soft and evenly distributed light. The Delta series belongs to Artemide’s early production and reflects the design culture that contributed to the international recognition of Italian design in the second half of the twentieth century.
Sergio Mazza (1931-2020) was an Italian architect and designer, a key figure in post-war Italian design. In 1959, together with Ernesto Gismondi, he founded Artemide, which became one of the key lighting manufacturers of the 20th century. In his designs, Mazza paid particular attention to construction, materials, and the balance between technological production capabilities and aesthetics. His furniture and lighting became an important part of the development of Italian modernism and had a significant influence on the development of lighting design in the second half of the 20th century.
