Sergey Poteryaev is a multidisciplinary artist and curator who lives and works in Yekaterinburg and Dresden. His artistic practice explores the boundaries between visual imagery and documentary representation in contemporary art. His methodology is grounded in the idea of the fluidity and incompleteness of photographic images, addressing issues of manipulation and interpretation. Poteryaev often combines elements of journalistic and artistic storytelling, presenting series as sequences of edited images that incorporate archival materials, reportage photography, and staged scenes. In his works, the artist remains a detached observer, maintaining the position of an impartial documentary narrator. He is particularly interested in landscape as a socio-cultural space. The focus of his research is visual propaganda and the phenomenon of migration.
