Desire is like the sea, untamed, powerful, and endlessly returning. It shapes us slowly, like waves shaping stone.
This energy is ever-present in us, like the waves endlessly crashing against the rocks of the Costa Brava. The constant flow of water against the solid stone reveals an undeniable truth: movement and stillness are forever intertwined, as are our desires and our essence, a perpetual dance.
The contrast between solidity and fluidity, roughness and serenity creates an intriguing dialogue between the sea and the rough coast. Using the same tools from metal to stone, this collection has been crafted intuitively to illuminate spaces. The metal adapts around the rock, the same way water would around the stones, creating pieces shaped by time.
The stone represents our essence, grounding, and tangible. The metal lampheads embody desire, a force that alters, refines, and illuminates the stone, just as our longings shape who we become. But as water transforms stone slowly, we too must let our desires shape us with patience. In a world driven by immediacy and constant craving, these pieces remind us to embrace slowness, to not let any desire dictate how our life unfolds, but to let our transformation unveil in its own time.
More than objects, they create atmospheres, spaces for reflection, a solid reminder that beauty, like desire, is never still, yet can be held for a moment before it moves on. They invite appreciation for what has been and what is yet to come.
Pepe Valenti is a Barcelona-born artist known for his sculptural and installation works, currently based in the Netherlands. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and has built a name for himself in the intersection between art and collectible design. His work is known for its meticulous craftsmanship and a hands-on approach that emphasizes the relationship between materiality and aesthetics. Valenti often experiments with natural materials in an intuitive way, creating refined pieces that balance raw inspiration with polished finishes, such as his notable work El Mar Installation .
Valenti’s installations have been displayed at numerous international exhibitions, including Art Miami, Milan Design Week, Pan Amsterdam and more.
