Fingers from the Balcony
The sculpture continues an exploration of the Soviet courtyard as an archetype connecting people, cities, and countries. At the center of the composition is a human hand, as if emerging from beneath the ground. Its giant fingers with chrome nails symbolize flashes of memory, while the blue tone recalls the sky glimpsed between the buildings. The work embodies a human presence that imbues anonymous spaces with individuality and life.
Taras Zheltyshev (Taras Yoom) is an international multidisciplinary artist, creator of the immersive art universe Yoomoota, and a participant in major contemporary art exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the United States. His paintings, sculptures, and installations merge the organic and the artificial, exploring human nature and our relationship with the world through the signature style of biomorphic surrealism. Combining contemporary techniques with traditional craftsmanship, he creates a fantastical universe where functional objects become tools for investigating all dimensions of human experience — from physiology to emotional states and the perception of reality.
Zheltyshev began his artistic journey in collectible design, earning recognition from the international design community through awards such as the A’ Design Award, International Design Awards, Good Design Awards, and Elle Decoration. He later developed an independent practice in painting and sculpture, working at the intersection of craftsmanship and technology. His artistic techniques include oil and acrylic painting, lithography, graphite drawing, assemblage, hand modeling, 3D printing, and digital art.
Today, Taras Zheltyshev’s works are held in private collections in Paris, London, Seoul, Belgium, Miami, New York, and Moscow, and have been featured in Forbes, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, The Art Newspaper, and GQ.
