Bright Cells 2026 - IV (deep gray)
Hitomi Uchikura is a Japanese artist whose practice lies at the intersection of objects, reliefs, and light installations. She was born in Kagoshima, studied traditional Japanese painting at Tama Art University, and lives between Berlin and Nasu.
The central theme of Uchikura’s work is light, which for her is not merely a source of illumination but an almost spiritual force that transforms our perception of form and space. In her works, she explores reflections, glimmers, and shadows, showing how light literally “brings the material to life.”
