About the Artist

Kharisov's works are characterized by a fresco-like quality, flatness, elements of popular prints, and inscriptions in the Tatar language. Behind the seemingly simple stylization lies a complex world of philosophical reflection, nurtured not only by solid academic knowledge but, most importantly, by the memory of childhood in a Tatar village, which develops into the genetic, historical memory of his people, with a rigorous selection of symbols, a unique geometry and color vision, upon which he creates his artistic aesthetic.

Painter Rinat Kharisov is a core member of the Genghis Khan group of artists. This artistic association stood at the forefront of contemporary art in Bashkortostan in the 1990s. Today, Rinat Kharisov is recognized as a modern classic.

Rinat Kharisov's style is difficult to fit into the framework of naive art, social art, ethnofuturism, and postmodernism, although his creative method is based on elements of these movements. The subtle

uniqueness of his national vision, the harmonious combination of disharmonious elements, gentle irony, and mystical perception of time distinguish him from the mockery of modernism. His works are characterized by fresco-like qualities, flatness, elements of popular prints, and inscriptions in the Tatar language. Behind the seemingly simple stylization lies a complex world of philosophical reflection, nurtured not only by solid academic knowledge, but, most importantly, by the memory of childhood in a Tatar village, which develops into the genetic, historical memory of his people, with a strict selection of signs, with its own geometry and color vision, on which he creates his artistic aesthetics.
