«Fountain»
In this series, Irina Drozd constructs enclosed spaces in which her signature creatures coexist with barbie dolls and everyday objects. Placed within familiar domestic settings, these fantastical characters disrupt the conventional logic of the dollhouse interior, transforming it into an unsettling scene where the familiar and the alien coexist.
Irina Drozd is an artist and sculptor. She was born in 1983 in Rzhev, Tver Region.
In her works, Irina Drozd depicts a world of fantasy filled with unusual creatures and characters. Her toy-like monsters are at once endearing and genuinely unsettling; they can be captivating, while those presented to the viewer on silver serving platters may even evoke disgust. In the artist’s sculptures, the refined beauty of antique porcelain figurines collides with something bodily, strange, and almost fairy-tale-like — transforming gallant figures into hybrid beings that balance between tenderness, grotesque, and unease.
