Untitled. From the «Random Vexillology» series
Series "Random Vexillology" — graphic studies built from observing the random behaviour of a flag in space. There is none of the familiar solemnity of banners or the signalling function of pennants here; this series is about architecture and ordering.
Each drawing is a combination and compatibility of a flag's constituent elements, captured in a moment. Beginning with figurative imagery, the series increasingly transforms into abstract or Op-Art works by its end, giving rise to new, autonomous structures. Through this, oppositions, patterns, and systems begin to emerge — constructed in an attempt to tame the unruly resistance of fabric and air.
Anton Morokov is primarily known as a graphic artist. His conceptual series are built from various configurations of repeating elements — for example, images of flags or birds, and sheets of paper with typewritten texts.
